Good morning parents!
I hope everyone has had a good week! We've had a great week here in the classroom. The kiddos are having excellent behavior- I'm not moving clips much at all anymore :) Tomorrow's Show and Tell is for the letter U. Please help them find something that starts with a U.
We do not have school on Monday, January 21 for MLK Jr. Day. We had a social studies lesson yesterday about MLK Jr and the positive effect he had on the world. We discussed the importance of showing love and respect to everyone, regardless of the color of the skin. They really took to hear the conversation and I love seeing the love them show each other! If you have time, please have a conversation with them at home about MLK Jr.
Tuesday, January 29th will be our 100th day of school! This is a big deal in Kindergarten, and your child is invited to dress like he/she is 100 years old! Be creative :) We'll also be busy throughout the day celebrating in different ways. I'll send a sign-up genius later today that'll ask for ingredients to make a special snack for the day! If you have any questions, please let me know.
Next week we'll be working on the following:
** Christ light ** Mary and Martha & The Great Dinner
** Memory Treasure ** Worship the Lord your God, and serve Him only. Matthew 4:10
** Math ** Comparing Numbers to 10 (Unit 9)
** Super Kids ** Us and the letter U

** Phonics ** Variant Vowels with ou & ow
** Writer's Workshop ** Swimmy

** Social Studies ** MLK Jr.
** Art ** Umbrella project
** PE ** with Mrs. Hildebrant
** Music ** with Mrs. Patterson

Bible Encouragement for you this week: I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness. Isaiah 61:10

Have a great day and enjoy your 3 day weekend!

Good morning parents,
Happy Thursday! I hope this email finds you happy and warm this morning! It's been a great week back to school, it's wonderful to be back with the kids! Tomorrow's Show and Tell will be for the letter H. Please help your child find something that starts with the letter H and bring it tomorrow to share with the class. If they don't have anything that starts with an H, it's no big deal, but please have them refrain from bringing other toys to class. When toys (other than Show and Tell days) come to school, they're too much of a distraction. Thanks for your cooperation with this.
We do not have school on Monday, January 21st!
Please continue working through Sight Words with your child during the week and weekend. We work on sight words throughout the week, but the additional reinforcement and practice at home will help them so much!

Next week we'll be working on the following:
** Christ light ** Jesus Shows Loves to a Man born blind & Jesus and the 10 sick men
** Memory Treasure **  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8,9
** Math ** Measurements
** SuperKids ** Hot Rod and the letter H
** Science ** Habitats
** Social Studies ** MLK Jr Mini Unit
** Phonics ** Vowel Teams
** Art ** Construction Paper Houses
** PE ** with Mrs. Hildebrant
** Music ** with Mrs. Patterson
** Choir ** Wednesdays from 1:30-2pm
** Technology ** with Mrs. Carlovsky

  Important Upcoming Calendar Events:
** Monday, January 21st: NO SCHOOL
** Sunday, February 10th: Kids sing in 10:30 worship

Bible encouragement for you this week: Say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you." Isaiah 35:4

Good morning parents!
Can you believe it's only 5 days until Christmas? We've had a great first half of the year, and I can't wait to watch the kiddos continue to grow! I'm out of the classroom this morning, but will be back at 10:45. We'll be decorating Christmas cookies this morning with the 3rd graders, and sharing them with our friends tomorrow after our Christmas Service Rehearsal :)
Tomorrow is a half day, so the kids will be released at noon. They are invited to wear Christmas clothing to school. We will also have a school-wide Pancake Breakfast tomorrow morning! Following breakfast, the kids will have their final Christmas service rehearsal. After the rehearsal, we will be watching a Christmas movie with 1st-4th grade. I'll give the kids their presents at the end of the day, as well as their presents for you before bringing them out to car line.
Saturday is the BIG day, at 3pm! The kids have been working so hard on their Christmas service, and I can't wait for you to see it! Please have them in the gym no later than 2:45.
They are welcomed to wear fancy/dressy clothes for the service, please no jeans or shorts.
We have two kiddos out today with ear issues, so please keep Tye and Grace in your prayers.

Bible Encouragement for the week: “Suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to people he favors!” - Luke‬ ‭2:13-14‬

Have a great day and have a very Merry Christmas!!!!

Be assured of this same confidence- the God who planted faith in your heart is quite capable of sustaining that faith until Jesus returns!

We have been having a lot of conversations about Santa and his "realness". Some of your children do not believe in Santa, which is fine, but some of the students do, which is also fine. I'm not going to be the one to tell them that Santa isn't real, I don't think that's my place. I respect the way you parent your children, but I don't want those who believe to be sad when their friends say he isn't real. When they ask me about Santa, I simply say, "He came to my house when I was little." I think that's part of the joy of being a child! I'm trying to teach the kids that you're entitled to make a choice to believe in Santa or not. Just wanted to keep you in the loop!
We are in need of new play dough and rice for our center time! If you feel so inclined, we would love to have more playdough and rice to have in the classroom to use for learning!
Next week we'll be working on the following:

** Math ** Comparing Sets Unit
** SuperKids ** Ettabetta and the letter E
** Phonics ** CVCe final E packet
** Sight Words** Packet #1 (the, and, to, is, that, of, a, in, you, it)
** Science ** with Mrs. Carlovsky
** PE ** with Mrs. Hildebrandt
** Art ** Christmas Project
** Music ** with Mrs. Patterson
** Writer's Workshop ** Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
** Social Studies ** Occupations Unit

Important Calendar Items:

** Saturday, December 22nd: Children's Christmas Service at 3 pm.

  Bible Encouragement for the week:
Jesus said, "Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man." Luke 21:34-36
Do not be anxious anything, but cling to our loving Father!!

Good morning parents,
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and an enjoyable break. I really enjoyed my time in Michigan with my family, but was so happy to see the kids and be back in the classroom.   Typically, we have the students participate in a book exchange for our Christmas party on the last day of school before the Christmas break. This year, in lieu of an exchange, we would like to collect money to buy Christmas gifts for kids in need. If you feel so inclined, you can send a monetary gift to school.
