Good morning parents,
It's hard to believe that we've been in school six weeks already! The kids are doing a great job in our classroom. We're working well together, I've seen a lot of teamwork and kindness shown between the students! It makes my heart very happy! They've earned quite a few "happy balls", and once they earn them all, they'll get to enjoy a movie afternoon in the classroom!
Tomorrow's Show and Tell is for the letter A. We are taking a Progress Test today in SuperKids, so we won't actually start working on the letter A until tomorrow morning!
Next week we'll be working on the following:

** Christ light ** Jesus makes a sick boy well & Nicodemus
** Memory Treasure **  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
** Math ** Numbers to 10

** Technology ** Chromebooks with Mrs. Carlovsky

  Important Upcoming Calendar Events:
** Sunday, September 30- Rally Day (Kids sing in the 10:30 church service) They should wear their Field Trip shirt and khaki bottoms!

Bible encouragement for you this week: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. Colossians 3:16
Through Jesus' sacrifice of his death on the cross, we have been reconciled to God and to each other. Faith is such an amazing gift! Peace in Jesus is ours!

  Have a terrific day!

Good afternoon parents!
I hope this email finds you happy and healthy! What a week! Grandparents Day was such a fantastic day! I hope your loved ones who were able to attend had a good time :) The kids and I enjoyed having them in the classroom. They made a craft with them that I'll be sending home next week.
You should have received an email from Principal Carlovsky today about the Intruder Drill we had this morning. The kids did a really good job of following directions and practicing if an intruder were to come on our campus.
Tomorrow's Show and Tell is for the letter G. Please help your child find something that starts with that letter and bring it tomorrow to share with the class! If they don't have anything, it's not a big deal, but please have them refrain from bringing other toys to class. When toys (other than Show and Tell days) come to school, they're too much of a distraction. Thanks for your cooperation in that.
Tomorrow we will also have our very first cooking class! The kids and I will be making homemade pancakes :) You can still pack a snack for them in the morning.

Next week we'll be working on the following:
** Christ light ** Jesus says No to sin and the Devil & Jesus Changes Water into Wine
** Memory Treasure **  Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
 1 Peter 5:7
** Math ** Numbers to 5 & Numbers to 10

** Social Studies ** Building Character- Kindness, Patience, & Trust
** Phonics ** ABC's
** Writer's Workshop ** nothing yet, this class is incorporating into the schedule in October
** Art ** Grape Painting
** PE ** Volleyball with Mr. Lange
** Music ** Music & Movement with Mrs. Patterson
** Choir ** Wednesdays from 1:30-2pm
** Technology ** Ipads with Mrs. Carlovsky

  Important Upcoming Calendar Events:
** Sunday, September 30- Rally Day (Kids sing in the 10:30 church service)

Bible encouragement for you this week: Say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you." Isaiah 35:4
Always remember that our God loves you and cares for you! There is nothing in this life that we need to fear, because He is on our side! He sent his Only Son to die and take away all your sins. One day, he will come and take all of us to Himself in Heaven.

Have a great day!

Good morning parents,
Happy Thursday and welcome to the month of September! I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day Weekend, I know I did! Thank you again for all the love shown for my birthday last Thursday, I had a fantastic day!
Tomorrow's Show and Tell is for the letter O. In the beginning of the year we move a little slower with our letters, so you'll have to get your creative juices flowing for the weeks we repeat a letter! I apologize if it makes the search more difficult at home!

Good morning and happy Thursday!
I hope this email finds you happy and excited for the long weekend! We've had a great week in Kindergarten. The behavior shown by the students has been fantastic! It makes our classroom much more enjoyable when we're getting along and following the directions. The students did a great job with their Memory Treasure this Tuesday, so thank you for your help with that! Tomorrow is an exciting day for us- not only is Show and Tell for the letter O, but we have our first Cougar Pal Event!
Cougar Pals is a program designed of teams consisting of students from Kindergarten through 8th grade that get together throughout the year to do various activities. (Games, crafts, service projects, etc.) Each group has at least one student from each grade, as enrollment allows. Cougar Pals provides the opportunity to foster the family atmosphere we value at Abiding Word.  It allows the students the change to get to know each other across grade levels. Students could naturally develop positive relationships with one another, which in turn will help the school climate.
Your child was put on a team for the year, and we ask that you send them in that color t-shirt on Friday. If you don't currently own that colored shirt, no problem, just send them in an AW Cougar Wear shirt like we normally wear on Fridays. The colors are as follows:

Sophia: Red Team (wears a red shirt on Friday)
Ruby: Orange Team (wears an orange shirt on Friday)
Claire: Yellow Team (wears a yellow shirt on Friday)
Grace: Teal Team (wears a teal shirt on Friday)
James: Gray Team (wears a gray shirt on Friday)
Izabella: Purple Team (wears a purple shirt on Friday)
Quinn: Blue Team (wears a blue shirt on Friday)
Mila: Maroon Team (wears a maroon shirt on Friday)
Tye: Maroon Team (wears a maroon shirt on Friday)
Felicity: Pink Team (wears a pink shirt on Friday)
Angelina: Green Team (wears a green shirt on Friday)
Jackson: Green Team (wears a green shirt on Friday)
Odin: Yellow Team (wears a yellow shirt on Friday)

If you have any questions regarding Cougar Pal Teams, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm one of the coordinators, along with Mrs. Carlovsky! Also, if you haven't turned in your child's Field Trip T-shirt money, please do that ASAP (the cost is $7.00).

Next week we'll be working on the following:
** Christ light ** God keeps Jesus Safe from Herod and Twelve Year old Jesus
** Memory Treasure **  I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior. Isaiah 43:11

Bible encouragement for you this week:
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
Hold to the promises of God! He is the only way to Heaven, and I look forward to a heaven filled with all of you! God bless your day.

Good morning parents,
I hope this email finds you cool and out of the heat! We've been staying inside the last few days for our noon recess to avoid the heat. Thank you for your work on your child's memory treasure for Tuesday- the kids did great! Our Show and Tell tomorrow is for the letter C.
Remember, Friday's are the days that students are asked to wear their Abiding Word "Cougar Gear". Your child can wear their field trip shirt, royal blue polo, or the royal blue t-shirt I gave them last week.
If you haven't paid for your child's field trip shirt, please get that money to Mr. Freese or myself as soon as possible. The cost is $7.00. If you have any questions on whether or not you've already paid, just ask!

Next week we'll be working on the following:

Bible encouragement for you this week:
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:4-5
These verses are my encouragement to you as we work together this school year. We've all been blessed with different talents and abilities. When we work together, so much more can be accomplished. I thank God that you've sent your child to our school and I get to be their teacher. But please remember, kids are kids and we're learning how to treat  one another with respect and love. It'll take time and it can be difficult, but I know we'll figure it out and have a great school year!

I will be bringing in a snack on Thursday, August 30th to celebrate my birthday with the kiddos. You can still send a morning snack because we'll have this snack in the afternoon!

  Have a tremendous Thursday!

Good afternoon!
I hope this email finds you happy and healthy! We've survived our first two days and I think we've all had a good time! It is an adjustment in the first few weeks of Kindergarten. My expectations for behavior are high! I expect the kids to show respect, as well as being treated with respect by both me and their classmates. I expect them to use their manners when talking with me, using "ma'am" when answering. It'll take them a while to learn and remember our classroom procedures, but we'll get there!
Don't be surprised if your child spends time on Yellow (which is a warning and they'll sit out of recess for 10 minutes) or Red (which means stop and they'll sit out of recess for 15 minutes). I know it may seem harsh for children their age, but I promise you, it'll be fine and they'll learn! They're getting use to me, as I am getting use to them. My focus is to help your child be the best they can be, not just academically, but behaviorally and socially.
If you ever have questions about the color they "landed on" (green, yellow, red, gold), please don't hesitate to ask me. I'm available via email, phone, text, or in person. I never want their to be confusion, we're a team!
Tomorrow will be our first Show and Tell. We typically have the Show and Tell related to our letter for the week, but this week we're doing Readiness Testing. Next week is when we'll start with our formal SuperKids Lessons, so they're asked to bring a Show and Tell that corresponds to the letter we're studying. Tomorrow, your child can bring anything they would like to "show" for Show and Tell!
I sent home your child's Field Trip shirt and Kindergarten Shirt today in their backpacks. Fridays are the day we ask the kids to wear AW gear! Feel free to send them in either shirt tomorrow (or another one if you have it) for "Cougar Gear Fridays".
Next week we'll be working on the following:

** Christ light ** John the Baptist is Born & Jesus the Savior is Born
** Memory Treasure ** This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us. 1 John 4:10
** Math ** Matching & Sorting Unit
** SuperKids ** Cass and the letter C
** Science ** The 5 senses
** Social Studies ** nothing yet, this class is incorporated into the schedule in September
** Phonics ** ABC's
** Writer's Workshop ** nothing yet, this class is incorporating into the schedule in October
** Art ** One in Christ Cross Project
** PE ** Basic Movement with Mr. Lange
** Music ** Music Around Us with Mrs. Patterson
** Choir ** Wednesdays from 1:30-2pm

  Important Upcoming Calendar Events:
** Thursday, August 30th: Miss Fuerstenberg's birthday- I'll bring in a birthday treat for the kids and I to enjoy together! (not an important calendar item, other than the fact I'm turning 30 and having mixed feelings about it :) !!!)
** Monday, September 3, 2018- No School/ Labor Day
** Wednesday, September 12, 2018- Grandparent's Day

Bible encouragement for you this week:
Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15
I am so thankful for all of you! Thank you for trusting me with your child. I promise to take the best care of them possible. Just like this passage says- we are members of one body. I ask that this year, you keep the Kindergartners and I in your prayers! We'll be spending a lot of time together, and I pray we're all blessed through it. I pray that we (as parents and educator) can work together to help the child grow as much as possible this year! My door is always open! Here's to 2018-2019!

Have a fantastic Thursday!
